Yuyu People Interview

OTC Consumer Health Care Team

Assistant Manager Jeonghee Lee

It's an atmosphere of free exchange of ideas and mutual respect.

Can you tell us about yourself?

Hi! My name is Jeonghee Lee, working in the OTC Consumer Health Care Team as an assistant manager. I returned to work in February this year after taking the maternity leave.

Please explain your current job responsibilities and duties.

Yuyu Pharma not only sells medicines, but also a variety of health functional foods and general foods with the functionality and safety comparable to those of medicines. I'm in charge of the development of these products. As we are specialized in distribution and sales, a series of all processes from the product raw material blending process to finished product release are included in the development work. Typical tasks are product approval, package development, advertising review, trademark application and production management.

How is your work-life balance at Yuyu Pharma?

It would be an individual's choice whether to put more weight on work or life. At Yuyu Pharma, maintaining a healthy work/life balance is possible depending on the individual will and the work plan adapted within the team. From a working mom's point of view, the hardest thing is when a child is sick. The work atmosphere where you can freely take a leave of absence or your vacation days when necessary is good. Also, if you work, there is little time to take care of your child, but I am satisfied with my working life as the flexible working hours system guarantees a personal life without work in the evening.

How is the team atmosphere?

It is an atmosphere that freely presents various opinions and respects each other. It's something that is typical of a marketing department, but I think that it is a great advantage of our team to be efficient because we can freely communicate and share opinions regarding work at any time.

Are there any differences in your working life before and after your maternity leave?

The biggest difference is the improved in-house welfare (work environment). During the maternity leave last year, the remodeling of the Seoul Office in Yaksu-dong was completed. The biggest change was the opening of cafeterias on the 1st and 2nd floors, the Healing Room where you can get massages , and the Women's Lounge. After the birth of my first child, it was difficult to return to work because it was rather a rush for me to return to work, and there was no Women's Lounge then. After my second childbirth, it's great to be able to focus more on my work in the better environment.

What advice would you give your future junior employees who are preparing to join Yuyu Pharma?

I think it is a company that responds well to today's trends, where it is important to value not only work, but also for individuals and families. Due to the nature of pharmaceutical companies, there may be a conservative corporate culture, but the best thing about Yuyu Pharma's corporate culture and welfare is the freedom and flexibility, that are enough to be contrasted with the 80 years of its history. It may be obvious, but the working atmosphere that respects employees, free use of maternity or parental leave, and the guaranteed right to return to the job seems to be the best corporate welfare for women.
